Feed Beans
Feed Beans are traditionally perceived as an ingredient in ruminant rations however this has changed over the years. Mixing pulses with oilseed rape in equal quantities and processing under conditions of high temperatures and pressures produces a replacement for soya in pig and poultry rations. This market accounts for a large tonnage of pluses, mainly, beans, because their protein content is higher than peas and beans are much preferred in some quarters. There is a small market for Micronised beans which are included primarily in sheep feed.
