Spring Beans
The export market for Spring Beans comes purely from the Middle Eastern and North African Arab populations, with their main traditional dish being “Ful Medames”. This consists of a puree of beans flavoured with garlic and lemon, consumed at any meal during the day.
Spring beans for the export market should ideally be of uniform size, with smooth, pale coloured skins that are sufficiently thin to allow the beans to be quickly rehydrated and cooked. They should also be free of Bruchid Beetle with production often focused on areas that are as free as possible from the pest.
Spring Beans are normally sown in February and harvested the following August/ September, preferably with a maximum of 15% moisture.
